Hand crafted in Australian black bean wood, this beautiful box was 'made' for the Athame inside. The box has a protective slot for the tip of the blade, rich black velvet lining and is custom moulded to cradle the Athame's unique shape.
The sturdy lid features embedded designs handcrafted in Black bean wood and twisted copper. A carved Triple Goddess (moon phases) design and contains a central raised pentagram symbol surrounded with a decorative twisted copper border.
Matching Triple Goddess Athame
Features a doubled-edged 316 stainless steel blade, approx 21cm long. A blood groove runs from the tip of the blade, unadorned for the first ¼ of the length of the blade, then inlaid (for a further half of the length of the blade) with a decorative two-strand twisted design in blackened copper, worked directly into the mirror-finish steel of the blade itself.
A copper proof plug, on the blade immediately adjacent to the copper and sterling silver brass quillions, is stamped with the makers mark.
The pierced decorative brass quillions are curved in a manner reminiscent of the crescent moon, flowing into the gleaming copper and brass handle fittings which hold the hand carved black bean wooden handle.
The front face of the handle is shaped in beautiful flowing lines, to fit the hand. The front face of the pommel bears a small copper cartouche inlaid with a sterling silver crescent moon, adjacent to a shiny brass and copper fitting.
The top cap of the pommel features a cabachon-cut stone set in a sterling silver bezel.

ShadowSmith can customize the Athame with your choice of stones and even symbols. Please ask for a quote.
The Athame is a knife-like tool used to channel energy and casting the circle. Traditionally, an Athame would be black handled, though many other styles are used according to personal preference. Generally an Athame is not used to cut anything material. It symbolizes the Fire or Air elements which varies according to tradition.
A ShadowSmith Athame is truly something special. Each athame is handmade, starting with making the blade, and then continuing through the creation of handcrafted grip, pommel, quillions, and scabbard, each element worked with magickal symbols and intent. As a result, each athame is a one-of-a-kind work of art, suitable for reverent use or display with your greatest treasures.
These athames are for those who find value in the workmanship of the MasterCraftsman.
