Quillions: Brass, Curved in a crescent moon shape
Grip: Hand carved Australian Black Bean wood
Pommel: Copper with Ivory and garnet inlay
Fittings: Copper, brass, and sterling silver
Features a 316 stainless steel blade. Double edged, approx 24cm long.
The crescent-curved brass quillions are reminiscent of the first sliver of the new moon, and are detailed in copper twists and spirals on the blade side, and polished to a soft sheen on the underside, toward the grip.
Copper and brass handle fittings hold a hand carved blackbean handle which is surmounted by a sterling silver wire twist (a goddess metal representing the moon) around a silver bezel holding an ivory cabuchon (for purity). The ivory bears another silver bezel which holds a large cabuchon garnet (for healing, protection, and strength).
The fittings for the scabbard are of copper, brass and silver.
Copper detailing is edged by a brass band at the upper edge of the top fitting.
The copper detailing on the front of the sheath bears a silver ankh (the symbol of life) inset with a lapis cabuchon, while the detailing on the back of the sheath bears a silver maker's mark (a runic lightning bolt), a symbol of the will.
The bottom fittings are made from copper and brass and have a small silver triple goddess symbol on the front focal point, and a silver spiral on the back focal point, just above the brass tip.

Generally an Athame is not used to cut anything material. It symbolizes the Fire or Air elements which varies according to tradition.
